“A taste of the past” to discover the taste of history. A cultural product in which archaeology and art blend with flavour. Sensorial and cognitive experiences that amaze, giving a new voice to ancient artefacts, protagonists of the past and of contemporary culinary excellences.
Taste the Past is an innovative cultural event, easily usable and transverse. The format, suitable for different types of audience, has already been realized within several museum institutions in Veneto, such as the Museum of the Great Rivers in Rovigo, the future National Museum of Maritime Archaeology in Caorle (Venice) and in the setting of interesting temporary exhibitions, such as “Venetkens” at Palazzo della Ragione in Padua or “Octavian Augustus. Another story”, multimedia exhibition arranged at the Museum of the Roman Centuriation of Borgoricco (Padua). For each of the locations an unique event has been studied: a thematic path that begins with a guided tour of the exhibition, continues with an immersion into interesting historic and archaeological topics, and eventually rejoins with food and propose the final tasting.
A journey into the food experience of “yesterday”, savouring the enogastronomic excellences of today. Taste the Past establishes relations with local producers, valuing the excellences, introducing quality and seasonality. The product is told, from ancient cultivation techniques to modern methods of preservation, preparation and consumption: the food from thousands of years ago compared with our time.
